Current Projects

The Chapter is currently working at the Portage County Historical Society on the Naturalization records that are on file there. This project is about 3/4 finished. It started out as just a listing of names and dates and then a book was found with more names and and index, so now the project has a new focus. It will contain names, dates, place of origin and other miscellaneous information.

Clipping newspapers, the Evening Record & the Record Courier, dating from 1928 to 2004 is something we have been doing for the past 2 years. the newspapers came from the Western reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, Ohio. They all on microfilm and the papers were going to the shredder, but we were able to retrieve them just in time. All item of historical and genealogical interest are being clipped, copied and filed at the Portage County Historical Society library

A new publication of the wills, estates, and guardianship records located at the Portage County Historical Society is now available for sale. See link in Publications for Sale below.
