Portage County Historical Society, 6549 N. Chestnut St. Ravenna OH--(located next to the Ravenna High School & Stadium and just southwest of Maple Grove Cemetery)


NOTICE  : NEW SUMMER HOURS  for Thursday & Saturday

Starting June 18th the  Historical Society will be open every Thursday 2-4:30 pm through September 3rd.

ONLY open the 1st and 3rd Saturday’s of July & August from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A $3.00 Donation Is Requested For Tours Of The Museum Only-Addition $2.00 For Buildings (Houses, Land Office, Cabin, Ford Seed, Barn, Indian Village)If Volunteer Is Available.

All Regularly Scheduled Programs Held At The Museum Are Free And Open To The Public. All programs
times are 2:00 P. M. unless otherwise noted.

Special Events Held In The Amphitheater-Pavilion Will Have A Charge Per Event


November 28 -- (2pm) Judith Bosau-Allen will give a presentation entitled “Words Most Noted: Reactions to and Legacy of the Gettysburg Address." She has been a resident of Portage County for 55 years and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1968. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Kent State University in 1993; a Master’s in History from the University of Akron in 1995; and is has worked on her doctorate at the University of Akron. 
            She has taught history courses at UA, KSU and Mount Union College. She currently resides in Deerfield, Ohio. Ms. Allen currently is a member of Portage Community Chapel where she teaches an adultSunday class.

The Museum, Homes, Campbell Land Office, Ford Seed Building and Clock Tower are open for tours during
regular hours. Special group tours can be made by appointment. School classes, scout troops, and clubs are welcome. We offer Teas for Brownie troops and Girl Scouts and other organizations at the Strickland and Carter Homes. The Strickland House can be rented for Baby Showers, Small Weddings, Club Meetings, etc.
